Students in the College of Geosciences earned three first place prizes, one second place prize, and three third place prizes, as well as several special awards in the 11th Annual Student Research Week held March 24-28. Over 50 faculty and students from the College participated in Student Research Week which recognizes and celebrates student research at Texas A&M.

Dr. Bruce Coull, immediate past-president of the Council of Environmental Deans and Directors (CEDD) and Dean Emeritus of the School of Environment at the University of South Carolina, will visit the College February 6th to 8th to advise us on our interdepartmental Environmental Programs in Geosciences. Dr. Coull will give a brown-bag seminar on Friday, February 8th, from 12.30 to 1.30 in O&M 203. His seminar is titled "The CEDD national surveys of environmental studies and environmental geosciences programs." He will summarize results from a survey of hundreds of programs recently conducted by the CEDD and Oklahoma State University. Dr. Coull will meet with students and faculty while he is here. There will be drop-in sessions with Dr. Coull on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. Please consult the schedule.

Dr. Millington will speak on “Energy Resources and Climate Control.” The conference is sponsored by the European Union Center of Excellence at Texas A&M, the European Commission, the Office of International Outreach, and the following TAMU colleges: Agriculture and Life Sciences, Education and Human Development, Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Science, Political Science, Geosciences and the Mays Business School.
